No moulds are used.  Everything from the bears themselves to the smallest detail of each design is hand-modelled from Earthenware clay.  This means that no two bear models are ever exactly the same.  When partly dry each bear is marked with fur and where necessary the models are painted with under-glaze colours.  When completely dry, they are fired in the kiln, then glazed and fired a second time.
